Most often if you are reserving a venue t have there own catering and cost is usually price per guest.
1. Check history of the company and reputation.
2. Check with the Better Business Bureau
3. Make sure catering company is properly insured and licensed.
4. Review pictures of past events to see presentation of food.
5. Review event site with the caterer. Create timeline. set up time required, length of event, tear down time.
6. Look at sample of linen,china, glassware Ask if food is prepared at location or off site and delivered
7. Staff,s attire suits the occasion.
8. How are gratuities calculated?
9. When is final head count due by? Usually 72 hours prior to event.
10. Any special dietary needs?
