Quinceanera
A Quinceanera party is a Latin American tradition that encompasses religious traditions and the virtues of family and social responaibility. The party celebrates a young girl,s 15th birthday. The event highlights God, family, friends, music, food and dance.
The celebration traditionally begins with a religious service, followed by a reception held at the girl,s family home or a banquet hall.
The following gifts are traditionally bestowed upon a tiara, a bracelet, or a ring, earings, a cross or medal a Bible or a prayer book. Smaller gifts are a bouquet of flowers, a special cake topper, a cake serving set, champagne glasses the girls last doll ( marking the end of her childhood ) a guest book, a photo album, cermonial pillows Each gift has a significance.
At the church a kneeling pillow is decorated with the Quinceanar's name. At the reception there is always a toast made to the Quinceanera.
